The service was created in 2011 in the Czech Republic. It is an online forum where the users can share their experience with phone numbers, both annoying (mostly telemarketing, surveys) and useful (e.g. couriers, offices)..
Since the beginning, the service has been received very well, which led to localization into more languages. Nowadays, the forum exists in more than 20 languages and 34 countries throughout the world.
The service is intended for anyone who wants to identify the owner of an unknown phone number. The creators of the forum have also recently created the mobile app Call Insider for Android phones. This app, which is connected to the database of the website reverse-lookup.co.uk, also allows users to automatically block telemarketing numbers.
Keep ringing me, Ive just blocked it, never answered
Marketing Means, an independent research agency.
Just had a woman call me from this number, she said she was doing a survey. I asked how she got my number as I am ex directory and registered with TPS she said it was random dialed and they are talking to people in Bath and North East Somerset (I'm in Bristol). She still didn't back off and when I challenged her insisted that she is allowed to call because blah blah. She kept on, I said I wasn't interested. Fishing for information they can use?
They phoned and said 'oh dear, isn't it a shame we can't find out who this number belongs to...' I asked who they are, they would not say. There is no reason why a company would not declare who they are, knowing who the company is could not breach any privacy laws as you need to know who is phoning you, it's obvious these are not people I know as people I know would tell me who they are! The way I see it is people who phone should tell you who they are if you don't know their voice, not ask 'who am I phoning?'
This number has called me seveal times I never answer it.
